You’re at an old friend's wedding, in a room full of people you sort of knew 10 years ago. You get asked that question.
"So... What do you do for a living?"
A. tell them the name of the company you work for
B. tell them your job title
C. tell them what you do and why you love doing it?
All too often, we assume people don’t really want to know and thereby cut off the opportunity to create a real connection.
Don't put yourself in a box!
Being open about what you do (that is your role, your responsibilities, the service that you provide) and who you serve (your clients, who they are and why they come to you) is central to expressing what you are all about.
Hey, you never know, they might be looking for someone just like you to help them!
The ideal response tells your listener what you do for your clients, who they are and why you enjoy what you do.
It’s on you to grow and nurture the connections you make – you never know where your next opportunity will come from
