Every success has a story behind it. Usually, it is a story of challenge, perseverance, and small wins.
Yes, really. Small, tiny wins.
What sets successful business people and entrepreneurs apart is not that they had epic success from day one, but their ability to keep moving forward on their journey despite setbacks or challenges they face. It’s their ability to see missteps as an opportunity to learn, adapt and change course to keep moving and grow.
Beyond that, many successful entrepreneurs have had the fortune of some good advice, tips and guidance from those who have traveled the path before them. Read on to find out some of those tips!
Choose your friends wisely
You are the average of the five people you most associate with. If you surround yourself with people who you can learn from, who challenge you and who are supportive of your hard work, then you are onto a good thing.
Seize incredible opportunities that come your way
All too often it seems that some of us all too often step back instead of stepping up. Don’t avoid opportunities. Instead, trust in yourself that you will find a way to make it work if you really want it. Say a loud YES to what you want to do. Which means you also have to say a strong NO to the rest.
Listen to your customers (learn from their complaints)
The advice to listen to your customers is crucial for every business, and I know you’ve heard it before. But, on top of that, as long as people are still talking to you and giving feedback, even if it is hard to hear (i.e. negative), then you still have the opportunity to learn and improve.
Build a meaningful network
Your network is hugely valuable for so many reasons. Not only because they can help you to thrive (see the first tip) but because often ideas and opportunity come through conversation and collaboration.
Know who you are selling to
Every time you want to make a change in your business, offer a new product or service or run a big promotion, think long and hard about who is going to buy. Deliver your value with that particular person in mind.
Stop being busy & start being productive
It's easy to get sucked in to the busy cycle. If you find yourself often saying "I'm too busy" then perhaps it's time to evaluate your priorities. Being in a constant frenzy is not productive nor is it healthy! Focus on what really matters and find ways to do less through delegation, cancelling or simply saying no.
Deliver value and promote that
Stop hiding! I know what you do helps other people feel better, stronger and more alive. That is your art; that is what you do. Now, stop hiding it. You do great work. You’re doing an injustice to yourself and the world if you don’t shout about it very loudly! If you can’t promote yourself, you’ll never make an impact in this crowded world.
Never fear failure
Imagine what you would achieve if you feared nothing? Imagine a world where nothing you did was judged by others. Well, I’ve got news for you, it can be that way. Sometimes we wait, think about it, and procrastinate but not because anything is actually stopping us. Research has shown that the more successful you get, the more you tend to hold back! Now, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to remove that element of fear completely, but your attitude can shift to be more open to it. Doing small things (regularly) that challenge you, can help you get there.
